Sharing Chaga One Cup at a Time Since the Early Days of Annanda
Before social media, before webinars, and before online mushroom education became common, Annanda introduced people to chaga the old-fashioned way — one cup at a time.
Across Ontario and beyond, Heather and Blair hosted educational Chaga Tea Parties, tea tastings, wellness talks, trade show exhibits, and community presentations where people could sample freshly brewed wild Canadian chaga tea, discover traditional preparation methods, and learn about sustainable wild harvesting in the Canadian boreal forest.
Many of the educational conversations that began around those tea tables eventually grew into the articles, guides, and resources now found throughout Annanda.
While those gatherings have become part of Annanda's history, the spirit of education, community, and forest stewardship remains at the heart of everything we do today.
More Than a Cup of Tea
A Chaga Tea Party was more than just a cup of tea.
Each gathering created an opportunity to:
- Taste freshly brewed chaga tea
- Sample chaga-inspired foods and baking
- Learn how chaga grows on living birch trees
- Explore traditional brewing methods
- Understand sustainable harvesting practices
- Ask questions about functional mushrooms
- Connect with other people interested in natural wellness
Long before Chagapedia existed, many of the conversations that now fill our educational guides began around a table with a warm cup of chaga tea.
Annanda Chaga in the Media
As interest in chaga continued to grow, Annanda had the opportunity to share the story of wild Canadian chaga on Rogers TV's Daytime program.
During the segment, Heather and Blair demonstrated the journey from forest to cup, explaining sustainable harvesting practices, traditional brewing methods, and the unique relationship between chaga and the boreal forest.

Educational Talks & Community Presentations
Education has always been an important part of the Annanda story.
Over the years, Heather and Blair presented at health food stores, community gatherings, wellness events, and educational workshops throughout Ontario.

These presentations often included:
- Chaga identification
- Harvesting techniques
- Traditional brewing methods
- Questions about mushroom preparation
- Discussions about sustainable forest stewardship
Many visitors arrived curious about chaga and left with a deeper appreciation for the remarkable connection between birch trees, forests, and fungi.
Canadian Wellness Expos & Trade Shows
From local community events to major Canadian wellness expos, we had the opportunity to meet thousands of people interested in natural health, sustainable food systems, and functional mushrooms.

EcoFest — Barrie, Ontario (2013)

Whole Life Expo — Toronto (2015)
Connecting with wellness seekers eager to learn about mushrooms, traditional preparations, and forest-based foods.

CHFA West — Vancouver (2015)
Bringing the spirit of the Canadian boreal forest to the West Coast and sharing the Annanda story with retailers, practitioners, and consumers.

Green Living Show — Toronto (2016)
Highlighting eco-friendly packaging, sustainability, and responsible forest stewardship.

Collingwood Christmas Market (2017)
Celebrating local community connections and sharing warm cups of chaga tea during the holiday season.
The Original Chaga Tea Party
Along the way, we even created a Chaga Tea Party logo and dedicated website to support our educational outreach efforts.

The Chaga Tea Party became a symbol of what Annanda has always believed:
Happiness becomes real when it is shared.
Whether around a table at a community event or online through educational resources, our goal has always been to make mushroom education approachable, enjoyable, and grounded in respect for nature.
From Chaga Tea Parties to Chagapedia
Many of the questions we answered at events are the same questions people ask today:
- What is chaga?
- How do I make chaga tea?
- What does chaga taste like?
- Does chaga contain caffeine?
- How do I identify chaga?
- Is chaga safe?
- How should chaga be stored?
Over time, these conversations became articles, guides, and resources that eventually grew into Chagapedia and the Mushroom Kingdom.
The medium may have changed, but the mission remains the same:
Helping people learn about mushrooms through thoughtful, accessible education.
