Wild Chaga Mushrooms

Chaga: The King of Mushrooms

Annanda Chaga is never farmed. It is carefully harvested from the Boreal Forest of Northern Ontario, where chaga forms slowly on living birch trees over many years of growth.

What Is Chaga Mushroom?

Also known as birch chaga, Chaga mushroom (Inonotus obliquus) is a wild-harvested fungus that grows primarily on living birch trees in northern forests.

Unlike common shelf mushrooms or tree burls, true chaga forms as a hardened, charcoal-like conk on the outside of the tree. Because chaga can be misidentified and may grow on non-birch species, proper identification is essential.
